The Toronto Maple Leafs announced details for its “Blue vs White Game” to be held at Scotiabank Arena at 6 PM on Friday, October 1.
According to a press release released by the club, the current roster will be divided into two teams for the game, with the “Team Blue” and “Team White” rosters announced on Thursday, September 30.
As part of the event, fans attending this game will consist of front-line and essential workers, including healthcare workers, food bank employees, teachers, shelter workers and community agencies.
This game is part of the Change the Game campaign, which aims to raise and commit to investing $30 million over four years to help “eliminate barriers for youth in sport, giving them more equitable opportunities to recognize and reach their potential.”
For fans at home they will be able to watch on both Sportsnet and TSN at 6 PM. On the call will be the iconic voice of the Maple Leafs, Joe Bowen as the play-by-play announcer. Alongside Bowen will be a two-time gold medalist and professional player Cheryl Pounder on colour commentary.
Former NWHL All-Star and LGBTQ2S+ advocate Harrison Browne and former Ryerson Rams hockey captain Kryshanda Green will also be a part of the coverage as analysts. Sean Bowen will be a broadcast host, and Maple Leaf in-arena host Danielle Emanuele will conduct player interviews.
The Maple Leafs will open their regular-season schedule on Wednesday, October 13, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto when they take on the Montreal Canadiens.
